Personally, I haven’t drank a Pepsi since they literally burned Michael Jackson, leaving an indelible scar on my childhood.

Now, the world (or at least the internet) has switched over to the hater-ade too after the soda company’s new ad where Kendall Jenner bolts from a modeling shoot to join a mass protest and thereby seems to solve society’s problems by offering a can of Pepsi to a cop.

Not only does this ad show how out of touch corporate America is and how quick the Kardashian clan is ready to capitalize on it, but the tone-deaf ad is the real-life reenactment of a scene from the Chemical Brothers’ 1999 video for “Out of Control,” as Rosario Dawson, who starred in the W.I.Z. directed music video, pointed out on Twitter. Watch it below and hang on until the end for the twist.

After facing a shit storm and a bunch of free publicity (which makes me think this was a masterful trolling tactic straight out of the President Trump playbook), Pepsi has taken down its controversial ad, but can still be seen (for now) on Kendall Jenner’s YouTube channel.

In a statement, the soda company said, “Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly, we missed the mark, and we apologize.” Read the full statement below.
