The Weeknd, Chance The Rapper and Skepta Headlining Wireless Festival

The Weeknd, Chance The Rapper and Skepta have been announced as Wireless Festival 2017’s headliners.

The festival, which takes place in east London’s Finsbury Park, has revealed its annual line-up and fans on social media are pleased with the end results. Alongside the trio of headliners, the likes of Nas, Lil Yachty, Post Malone, Wiley and Young T & Bugsey will also perform.

The line-up announcement has received a much stronger reaction from music fans this time around, with last year’s festival plagued with complaints over Twitter after it was announced that it would be headlined by Calvin Harris and Chase & Status. People have been much kinder to the line-up this year, with Chance The Rapper headlining on July 7, Skepta on July 8 and The Weeknd on July 9.

The festival has previously been protested against by locals, with a group calling themselves Friends of Finsbury Park taking Haringey Council to court as a result of the damage and “anti-social behaviour” reportedly caused by the musical event. Haringey cabinet member Peray Ahmet said of the complaints: “Events like Wireless make a huge contribution to London’s cultural scene and in Haringey bring in hundreds of thousands of pounds which is spent improving our parks and attracting more visitors. We will continue to work with residents and event organisers to ensure the Wireless festival is safe and enjoyable for all.”

The court cause was eventually thrown out, and Wireless Festival has continued on in its Finsbury Park resident unimpeded.
