John Oliver Crashes HBO’s Hits In ‘Last Week Tonight’ Promo

Since he departed from The Daily Show, John Oliver has had a meteoric rise in popularity as the host of HBO’s Last Week Tonight. It’s quickly become one of the network’s most talked about series. But in an amusing promo for the fourth season, HBO reminds Oliver that he’s not the biggest thing on the network…nor even the fourth biggest thing.

In this clip, Oliver briefly visits the fantasy realm of Westeros from Game of Thrones, as he enters King’s Landing and very nearly dares to sit on the Iron Throne itself. From there, Oliver finds himself in Silicon Valley, as Kumail Nanjiani offers a few harsh words for everyone’s favorite British comedian. Finally, Oliver comes face-to-face with Larry David, the co-creator of Seinfeld and the creator/star of Curb Your Enthusiasm…a show that hasn’t had a new episode in five years!

Although, David really doesn’t have much of a leg to stand on here. When most shows stay off the air for five years, the easy assumption is that they’re never coming back. There will be a new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, we just don’t know when yet. It’s too bad the ad didn’t have the space to add a cameo or two from Westworld, but Oliver could always do that next season!

The new season of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver will begin on Sunday, February 12.
