It’s pretty much impossible to watch the new Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings video for “Please Come Home for Christmas” without getting misty eyed. Produced by Alex Howard and David Hatter, the Claymation clip features a cameo by clay figures of Jones (in her signature short ‘fro) and the band caroling at night. The track is from the Christmas album It’s a Holiday Soul Party!, released last year. (The eleven-song album was reissued on new green colored LP last month after selling out of it’s initial pressing.) Just this past week, family, friends and fans gathered in both Brooklyn, NY and Augusta, GA to celebrate Sharon at memorials in each of her home cities. The documentary Miss Sharon Jones!, which chronicled her battle with pancreatic cancer, will be available worldwide on Netflix beginning January 7.
