‘South Park’ Trolls Scientology, White House, KFC, And More

It’s been over ten years since South Park broadcast its famous Scientology-themed episode “Trapped in the Closet,” but perhaps the Church of Scientology was hoping that the public would forget about that incident by now. But Comedy Central has no intention of letting that happen!

Via The Hollywood Reporter, Comedy Central found a novel way to promote the 20th season of South Park. A series of mobile billboards featuring scenes from previous seasons of South Park were sent to drive by the Los Angeles Church of Scientology, Trump Tower, Hilary Clinton’s New York headquarters, the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, the Canadian border, Facebook’s headquarters, the headquarters of the Mormon Church, Silicon Valley, Casa Bonita, KFC, PF Changs, Hooters, and even Whole Foods. So far, only the White House, the Lincoln Memorial and the Church of Scientology have asked the billboards to leave and stop coming back.

“We knew it was risky,”  said Comedy Central’s Walter Levitt while speaking to THR. “We knew some locations might not be pleased to have us out there, but we thought this is a perfect way to celebrate everything the series has covered in its 19 seasons.”

“We did this stunt because we thought it was a great way to remind South Park fans of all the amazing moments of the past 19 seasons and truly a perfect way to celebrated the 20th season,” added Levitt.

These pics are too much fun not to share, so we’ve taken the best ones from THR’s story and put them in a gallery for your viewing enjoyment. Was it worth it? “Totally.”
