Darrell Ward, one of the stars of the HISTORY reality show Ice Road Truckers, has died in a plane crash. Season 10 of the popular series begins on August 31st.
The co-pilot of the plane also perished. Ward was 52 years old.
Ward’s plane, which was leaving an appearance at a truck convention in Texas and heading to Montana to visit family and friends, was unable to land on the small airstrip where it was destined.
Ward’s longtime friend and associate Chuck Campbell told FOX411 he was “absolutely devastated with the loss of my friend. To know Darrell Ward is an honor and a privilege that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. We say good bye to an amazing man who made everyone around him feel special. Part of me died with him.”
Ironically, Ward was going to start working on a documentary series about recovering plane wreckage from crashes.
