This Year’s Allan Slaight Honour Going To Brett Kissel

Alberta’s hometown boy Brett Kissel just keeps rising to the top, and will be this year’s distinguished recipient of the Allan Slaight award from Canada’s Walk of Fame.

Kissel came out of the prairie woodwork when he received the Juno Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, which was the first time a country singer won the trophy in almost 20 years. He also received a number of Canadian Country Music Awards and nominations. He’s toured with country heavyweights like Garth Brooks and Brad Paisley, and has performed on the stage at the Grand Ole Opry.

“From a cattle ranch in rural Alberta to sold out crowds opening for international superstar Garth Brooks, Brett is the perfect example of what can be achieved with hard work, talent and passion,” said Gary Slaight, President and CEO of Slaight Communications (ET Canada). “My father Allan believes and always supported Canadian artists and we are proud to acknowledge Brett’s accomplishments and compassion to help others.”

Kissel will be honoured at Walk of Fame events taking place on Thursday, October 6th at Toronto’s Allstream Centre.
