Kerri Strug Saved The Atlanta Olympics For The U.S.A. 20 Years Ago

1996: The year Jordan’s Bulls became the greatest team of all-time, Nintendo 64 consumed our weekends and Kerri Strug vaulted into one of the most iconic Olympics moments in history.

July 23 marks 20 years since the tiny gymnastics star landed possibly the most powerful Olympic performance our country has ever seen.

After tearing ligaments in her left ankle on her first attempt at the vault, Strug landed a 9.712 on her second attempt, clinching the overall team gold medal for the U.S. in the ’96 Atlanta games.
