Noel Gallagher on Brexit: “99 Percent of the People are Thick as Pig S***”

Noel Gallagher offered his thoughts on the EU referendum before the UK decided to leave the European Union, saying that the general public shouldn’t be trusted to make a vote as “99 percent” of them are “as thick as pig shit.”

In an interview with CBC Music (via StopCryingYourHeartOut), Gallagher offered his thoughts on the then-upcoming referendum, saying: “Do I think we should leave? I don’t think we should be given a vote.”

He continued: “I see politicians on TV every night telling us that this is a fucking momentous decision that could fucking change Britain forever and blah, blah, blah. It’s like, okay, why don’t you fucking do what we pay you to do which is run the fucking country and make your fucking mind up. What are you asking the people for? 99 percent of the people are thick as pig shit.”

Gallagher said that he “might be busy” when it came to voting, so it’s not clear whether or not he pledged his support to Leave, Remain or decided to abstain from casting his vote altogether.

Considering that the value of the pound sterling dipped by as much as 11% in the wake of the UK leaving the EU, Gallagher’s words may have been prescient. With 52% of voters deciding that the UK should exit the European Union, it remains to be seen whether or not their final decision will validate Gallagher’s beliefs that the general public shouldn’t be allowed to make such monumental choices, as the UK must now rally to ensure that its future is secure.
