Question Reality In the New Trailer for HBO’s ‘Westworld’

After a production delay and rumored behind-the-scenes drama, HBO’s updated take on Westworld is just around the corner. And for Evan Rachel Wood’s Dolores Abernathy, that presents a major problem!

You see, Dolores isn’t real. She’s an android who has been programmed to believe in her life within a western inspired theme park. However, Dolores has somehow gone past the parameters of her programming, and it’s taking a toll on her sanity. If an android thinks that she’s going crazy, what’s the difference between that assumption and the reality?

Before the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones season 6, HBO debuted a brand new trailer for Westworld that offered a longer glimpse at Dolores and her reality, as well as several major characters from the series. That includes Anthony Hopkins’ Dr. Robert Ford, the man behind Westworld’s creative direction; as well as Ed Harris’ dangerous Man in Black, who’s going full Yul Brynner.

The trailer also introduces Thandie Newton’s Maeve Millay, the madame of Westworld, as well as Jeffrey Wright’s Bernard Lowe, one of the creators of the park’s androids. And even though Lowe is clearly worried about his creations becoming more than mere pleasure machines, it seems obvious that his warnings are going to fall on deaf ears.

Westworld will premiere on HBO in October.
