Nicolas Cage reveals he’s “homeless” after sinkhole destroyed his house
The Oscar-winning actor spoke about his housing situation during an appearance at Los Angeles Comic Con on October 31. He said, as stated by E! News, “I’m currently a little bit homeless,” adding, “Something happened to my house in Malibu, so I’m just sort of living in hotels.”
As previously reported, the ground collapsed next to Cage’s property after a massive sinkhole opened in the roadway. The collapse caused significant damage to the road and part of the driveway, leaving behind a deep crater filled with broken concrete, exposed ground, and damaged sections of pavement.
Cage’s beachfront home was among several properties affected by the sinkhole, which opened in September and measured approximately 25 feet deep and 30 by 60 feet wide. The damage prompted local officials to declare an emergency and issue evacuation orders for more than 30 homes in Malibu.
In October, The Los Angeles Times reported that Cage had obtained several permits for repairs and efforts to protect his beachfront property. The work involves removing debris, conducting soil tests, and installing sandbags near the beach and home to help prevent further damage from waves and erosion.
Cage bought the Malibu beach house in 2024 for $10.5 million. Located directly on the beach, the modern four-bedroom home spans roughly 4,000 square feet across four levels. The property includes floor-to-ceiling glass walls, several oceanfront terraces, a rooftop deck, and views of the Pacific.
The actor also has a busy November ahead, with two films scheduled for release. Madden will hit theaters on November 18, followed by Best Pancakes in the County on November 20.
