Jamie Lynn Spears does not appear ready to engage with her sister’s latest public criticism. Britney Spears recently shared a post making claims about Jamie Lynn and her former partner, Kevin Federline. However, a source close to Jamie Lynn says the claims do not match their experience. The latest dispute has put the sisters’ strained relationship back in the spotlight.
Jamie Lynn Spears insider disputes Britney’s claim about holding niece Ive
An insider told Page Six on Monday that Jamie Lynn, 35, and her husband, Jamie Watson, are not worried about Britney’s post. The source said the couple “aren’t really concerned about the post” because it does not reflect what they remember. Britney claimed Jamie Lynn “never let [her] hold” their daughter, Ivey, during a 2020 family visit in Louisiana. The insider pushed back, saying, “[Britney] held Ivey, and Ivey loves her.”
Britney’s post also included an accusation about Federline and his home. She claimed he “wouldn’t let [her] use the bathroom” when she came to pick up their children. The message featured Dakota Fanning’s character from the 2003 movie Uptown Girls raising her middle finger. Page Six said representatives for Jamie Lynn, Watson, Jamie, Kevin and Britney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The dispute comes years after Britney’s conservatorship officially ended in November 2021. Since then, she has accused family members of controlling her, silencing her, making her work too much and wrongly profiting from her success. Her father, Jamie Spears, and his lawyer have denied that the conservatorship involved abuse. They have said his actions followed the law, received court oversight and served Britney’s “best interest.”
Jamie Lynn has also denied playing a role in the conservatorship. She addressed many of her sister’s claims in her memoir, Things I Should Have Said: Family, Fame and Figuring it Out. Federline has denied intentional wrongdoing in his memoir. Jamie Lynn’s insider continues to stand by the account that Britney held Ivey during the 2020 visit.
