Nancy Guthrie remains missing as Arizona detectives pursue new DNA analysis
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos shared the latest update in a statement posted on X on Friday, October 30. He said the Nancy Guthrie Task Force was continuing to work with laboratory teams in the hope of making progress with DNA analysis.
“The Nancy Guthrie Task Force continues to work with our labs in hopes of furthering our DNA analysis in this investigation,” Nanos wrote, according to Okmagazine.
He also revealed that the investigating team had traveled to Florida earlier this month to consult with laboratory scientists. They are now deliberating on the DNA analysis angle to move the case forward. “Earlier this month, investigators traveled to Florida to meet with lab scientists to see what more could be done to advance this case,” the post continued. “A number of ideas were discussed, and we continue to work with all our partners to solve this case.”
The Sheriff urged the community to come forward with information. He also emphasized that no information is meagre, as they could contribute meaningfully to the prolonged investigation. “No tip is too small. Even the smallest piece of information could be critical to this investigation,” he wrote.
Nancy, 84, disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona, home on February 1. She was last seen the previous evening after her son-in-law dropped her off at her home. The family reported her missing after she did not show up for church. The investigation also delved into alleged ransom notes sent to authorities and the alleged victim’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie. However, the notes were later declared not credible.
Savannah and her family have offered a $1 million reward for information leading to her mother’s recovery. She has also continued to urge the community to come forward with information. Savannah has often expressed her hurt after her mother disappeared.
