As speculation grows over the 2028 presidential race, Fox News host Brian Kilmeade questioned JD Vance’s prospects. The 62-year-old suggested that the Vice President is not as “popular as he thinks he is” among Republicans.

During the October 28 episode of The Brian Kilmeade Show, Kilmeade and senior political analyst Brit Hume discussed potential Republican presidential contenders. Hume noted that Vance, who is widely viewed as an early frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination, may have some hurdles to overcome.
He said, “Everybody talks about Rubio and Vance,” Hume, 83, said. “I have a suspicion about Vance. He’s everybody’s idea of the frontrunner, and he may be, but a lot depends on how the public and the party feel about Donald Trump by the time 2028 rolls around.” He further stated, “If you’re as attached to the hip to Trump as, indeed, Vance is, it’s a good question whether that is a liability or a benefit… I think it might end up being a liability.”
“Interesting,” Kilmeade replied, but he had a different take on the matter. He said, “I think it’s going to end differently, I actually do, because once the Iran thing is done, I think a lot of his policy going into place. I think it’s going to be up to him to start solidify it into legislation, so we don’t get whiplash if a Democrat does win. I just don’t think that Vance is as popular as he thinks he is with Republicans.”
Earlier this month, Vance said that he was unsure whether Trump would endorse him in the 2028 presidential race. Vance said he believes Trump’s endorsement carries more weight than any other political endorsement in history. He acknowledged that voters will ultimately decide the election. He also pointed out that Trump is “only one vote of many.” However, Vance maintained that the President’s endorsement remains the most powerful.
