King Charles offers rare glimpse inside royal plane
The royal family’s official Instagram account shared a photograph of King Charles aboard his aircraft. The monarch appeared dressed formally as he reviewed documents during the flight.
The caption read, “Looking forward to joining the people of The Bahamas … When travelling, The King likes to spend time reading briefing papers, continuing with his Government red box duties, reading and writing correspondence, and discussing projects with his support team. Follow our stories and posts in the coming days for the latest updates from the Autumn Tour.”
The photograph offered a glimpse of the plane’s spacious interior, featuring leather seats, a cushioned plaid pillow, and a table. Charles continued handling official duties during his journey to the Bahamas.
The post also featured a photograph from the cockpit, where the pilots had an unusual companion, Geoffrey the Giraffe.
The second caption read, “?In the cockpit on His Majesty’s flight, the pilots were joined by Geoffrey the Giraffe, whose travels help raise funds for Great Ormond Street @giraffesontour1.”
The 77-year-old monarch began his nine-day Caribbean tour in the Bahamas on October 27. His visit came amid growing calls for Britain to address its historical involvement in slavery and consider reparations.
According to In Style, Charles addressed the issue during a youth rally in the Bahamas on Tuesday.
“The great suffering and injustices of the past in these islands. It is only right that we should acknowledge the great suffering and injustices of the past in these islands and beyond, even as we rejoice in the successes of the present and build new opportunities for the future,” he said.
The King is also scheduled to visit Guyana and Antigua and Barbuda during his tour. His latest Instagram update offered a rare look at how he manages official responsibilities while traveling between royal engagements.
