The latest clash unfolded when Hanks approached André from behind at ComplexCon and tapped him on the shoulder. A video shared by Hanks showed André initially appearing friendly before growing confused as the conversation continued.
“What are you talking about?” André asked during the encounter.
The exchange grew tense before André eventually walked away. However, he took one final jab at Chet as he walked away, shouting, “Tom Hanks,” in reference to his Oscar-winning father.
Hanks later shared the footage on Instagram and offered his own account of what happened. He claimed André initially did not remember criticizing him in the media and only acknowledged their dispute after security stepped between them. Hanks also alleged that André eventually brought up his past use of a Jamaican accent.
When asked about the situation afterward, André chose humor over a serious response. He joked that Hanks had simply been flirting with him and sarcastically suggested the encounter had left him unable to sleep.
However, André did not rule out the possibility that tensions remained between them.
He also claimed that a longer video of their argument was available online and would provide additional context. However, TMZ reported that it had not been able to locate the extended footage.
The confrontation revived a feud that dated back to Hanks’ 2023 appearance on The Eric André Show. Before that episode aired, André publicly criticized Hanks’ behavior during filming and alleged that he rode a motorcycle inside the studio and nearly hit crew members working on ladders.
As per TMZ more than three years later, the two found themselves face-to-face again.
Despite their history, André’s latest reaction suggested that he preferred to joke about the confrontation rather than treat it seriously. His jokes about Hanks, combined with his parting reference to Tom Hanks, kept the already strange feud alive.
