Stella Parton, the younger sister of Dolly Parton, unleashed a blistering criticism of Donald Trump and the Republican Party. The singer accused Republicans of fueling political division and failing to take accountability, while also questioning the country’s increasingly partisan political climate.
Her comments followed a dispute over her experience while voting in Tennessee, where Parton claimed a voting machine repeatedly registered a Republican candidate instead of her intended choice.
Stella Parton slammed Donald Trump and Republicans over political division and accountability
According to HuffPost, Parton shared her frustration in a lengthy Facebook post on Thursday.
“I’m so angry by all this devision in our country mainly caused by the Republican Party and their lack of accountability,” she wrote.
Parton also criticized the constant political labeling of Americans as “Blue, Red, far left, extreme right.” She then turned her attention directly to Trump.
“Trump gets up and rattles on about another man’s physique and people applaud. Have we lost our ever loving minds?” she wrote.
Her remarks came after Parton alleged that a voting machine at the Hermitage Library in Tennessee repeatedly defaulted to Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn while she tried to vote for Blackburn’s Democratic opponent. Parton said she corrected her selection three times before casting her ballot.
The Tennessee Secretary of State’s office later told local media that roughly 400,000 people had voted during the election period and that officials had received only one complaint matching the issue Parton described.
Parton continued criticizing Trump and members of his administration in other social media posts. She also expressed anger over U.S. foreign policy and called Trump “out of his mind.”
The singer has long been more politically outspoken than her sister. Dolly largely avoided publicly aligning herself with either major political party during her career.
She previously said Dolly had political opinions but chose not to reveal them publicly because she did not want to offend people with differing beliefs.
By contrast, the singer has taken a far more outspoken approach. Her latest posts show that she plans to keep voicing her views on Trump, Republicans and political accountability.
