Dylan Sprouse revealed a surprising detail about his family history after researching his genealogy. The actor, best known for The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, said he and his twin brother, Cole Sprouse, are “children of incest.”
Dylan Sprouse makes bizarre comment about his family tree
Dylan, who was born to Matthew Sprouse and Melanie Wright, discussed the discovery during the October 20 episode of the Wildmen podcast. The 34-year-old said, “I’ve found a lot of family members, weirdly, who I never met, because my dad’s side of the family is pretty fractured. I started to talk to them, compare and contrast. But I started to talk to them, compare and contrast, and find out some of the family history on that side. And I found out something weird.”
The actor discovered that both sides of his family were in California during the Gold Rush. The two sides later came together through marriage in the 1800s. “And then, they diverged, and then they married again [through] my mom and my dad, like, last generation.” “I called Cole, I showed him a picture, I was like, ‘Dude, I just found out some crazy sh*t,” he added and continued, “The only reason I started to get suspicious was when I started talking to my dad’s side of the family; I found out that his uncles were identical twins.
The Disney Channel alum said he had always believed that twins, including identical twins, came only from his mother’s side of the family. He revealed that there had been seven sets of twins across four generations because both sides belonged to the same family. Dylan said the discovery shed light on several aspects of his family history after he realized the family lines may have crossed at some point.
“One of my aunts was a twin, but she was one of the twins who ate her twin in the womb, and when they cut open a cyst in her shoulder, it had teeth and hair,” he said. “Long story short, Cole and I are children of incest.”
