Jean Smart celebrated a special moment with her Hacks family by taking on a role no one expected. The actress made a big day even bigger for two people who were close to the show. Her co-star Mark Indelicato married David Watson on October 10. Smart took part in the ceremony in a way that brought smiles and tears.
Jean Smart officiates Mark Indelicato’s wedding to David Watson
According to videos shared by Hannah Einbinder and Johnny Sibilly, Smart officiated the wedding. The 75-year-old actress wore a champagne-colored silk two-piece outfit as she led the ceremony. In a clip posted by Sibilly, she asked Indelicato, “Do you, Mark Anthony Indelicato, take David Joel Watson to be your lawfully wedded husband?” She continued with the traditional vows about love, health, wealth and staying together for life.
Indelicato confirmed that he would marry Watson. Smart then paused for laughs before delivering the official announcement. “Then by the power vested in me by American Marriage Ministers,” she said, “I now pronounce you husband and husband.” The couple exchanged rings before Smart told them, “You may kiss the groom!”
Indelicato played Damien, the assistant to Smart’s character Deborah Vance, throughout the show’s five seasons. Watson and Indelicato then headed to the dance floor for their first dance. They chose “Is It Okay If I Call You Mine?” by Paul McCrane for the special moment. In a video shared by Einbinder, the actress could be heard crying behind the camera as the newlyweds danced.
Einbinder also shared a clip from a speech she delivered at the reception. The wedding brought together several members of the Hacks cast and creative team. Co-creators Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky attended the celebration, along with cast members Meg Stalter and Poppy Liu. Downs, who also played Deborah’s agent Jimmy LuSaque Jr. on the HBO Max series, shared a group photo on his Instagram Stories.
The reunion gave the show’s cast and creators a chance to celebrate Indelicato and Watson’s marriage together.
