Hacks star Hannah Einbinder has joined the growing backlash against Ed Sheeran over his comments on politics and Palestine. The 31-year-old actress and comedian shared a screenshot of Sheeran’s estimated $400 million net worth before delivering a very personal ginger-to-ginger dig.

As per LADbible, the controversy escalated after Sheeran explained why he does not use his professional platform to publicly discuss politics. His comments came after rapper Macklemore said stadium owners in the U.S., including Robert Kraft, were refusing to let him perform at Sheeran’s shows because of his pro-Palestinian remarks.
Sheeran said he has his own “personal views on this devastating conflict” but chooses not to share them publicly. He explained that his audience includes young people and children. He also clarified that his shows are not meant to be “a political forum.”
However, Sheeran added that he respected Macklemore’s decision to speak out and said, “there is room for multiple approaches to the same end: peace.” He also said he wants his platform to be “a place of safety and sanctuary” where conversations remain open. Following the controversy, Aaron Rowe, Finneas, Lukas Graham and Sheeran’s backing band Beoga announced they would no longer perform on the tour.
Einbinder has long spoken publicly in support of Palestine. During her Emmy acceptance speech last year, she said, “Go birds, f**k ICE and free Palestine!”
She later said, “It is my obligation as a Jewish person to distinguish Jews from the state of Israel.” At Cannes in May, she also said, “The cost of not speaking is higher.”
Now, she has taken aim at Sheeran. After sharing sources about Israel and Palestine, Einbinder posted a screenshot estimating his net worth at $400 million. Alongside it, she shared a message: “Ed Sheeran, I say this as a ginger. I hope you get a REALLY bad sun burn the kind on the back of your entire body where it hurts to lie down or walk or sit.” She also shared Otto René Castillo’s poem Apolitical Intellectuals.
Meanwhile, LADbible reported that Sheeran has lost almost 100,000 Instagram followers following the controversy.
