Kelly Ripa Says Rod Stewart Stopped Her From Showing Too Much on Live TV

Kelly Ripa is giving Rod Stewart credit for an awkward moment from her Live days. The singer once noticed something on the show that could have caused Ripa years of embarrassment. Stewart wasn’t silent about what he saw. Ripa now says his warning made him a true gentleman in her eyes.

Ripa shared the story Tuesday on Live With Kelly and Mark while celebrating Stewart’s six-decade music career. She remembered his last appearance on the show, which was in 2013 as per records. At the time, the performance area had a mirrored floor. Ripa said she stood there while interviewing Stewart without knowing what the floor showed from below.

During their discussion, Stewart casually mentioned the issue to Ripa. “Oh, darling, I can see your knickers!” he told her, according to Ripa’s story. She then realized other performers may have seen up her skirt for years. “Rod Stewart was the one who boldly went there,” Ripa said. She then thanked him and called him a “Gentleman!”

Ripa shared the funny memory as Stewart prepares for his farewell tour. The 81-year-old singer recently announced his Final Encore tour for 2027. The run will cover Europe from April through July, according to recent reports. Stewart has also stated that he will not completely step away from music following the tour.

Stewart’s farewell plans come after a recent health setback that forced him to cancel tour dates. He underwent a routine coronary stent procedure in August and took time off to recover. Doctors advised him to take four weeks before returning to the stage. Despite that break, Ripa’s story offered another reason to celebrate Stewart’s long career and his memorable connection with Live.
