Kim Kardashian Wanted Just $1.15 in Paris Robbery Damages For One Reason

Kim Kardashian wanted just one euro ($1.15) in damages following her 2016 Paris robbery. The reality star said she wanted accountability rather than financial compensation following the traumatic incident.

Kim Kardashian explains why accountability mattered more than money after the traumatic 2016 Paris robbery

A Paris court awarded Kardashian €1 ($1.15) in damages on Tuesday for the 2016 armed robbery. She had requested that exact amount. According to a lawyer involved in the case, Kardashian sought the symbolic compensation because she wanted accountability. She wanted recognition rather than financial restitution.

The ruling came after a Paris court found eight people guilty in 2025 for their roles in the robbery. None of those convicted returned to prison because they had already served time in pretrial detention, and none appealed the verdict.

In a joint statement with her stylist, Simone Harouche, Kardashian said, “The experience was deeply traumatic, and its impact has stayed with us. Today’s decision is not about the compensation, but about accountability and recognition. We are thankful to the Court and everyone who supported us throughout this process, and we hope to now move forward and continue to heal.”

A former receptionist at the hotel where Kardashian was staying was also awarded compensation. The court awarded him €109,516 ($126,472), according to his lawyer, as per AP News. He had sought €550,000 ($634,868) in damages and interest, with his lawyer, Mohand Ouidja, describing the decision as a victory.

The Hôtel de Pourtalès was awarded €50,000 ($57,741). Meanwhile, Harouche, who was also present during the robbery, received €1, the amount she had requested.

Kardashian previously said after the 2025 convictions that she was “deeply grateful to the French authorities for pursuing justice in this case.” She added, “The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family. While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all. I remain committed to advocating for justice and promoting a fair legal system.”

In 2016, two robbers dressed as police officers forced their way into Kardashian’s suite during Paris Fashion Week. They bound her with tape and zip ties and stole more than $6 million worth of jewelry. It included the diamond ring she had worn to a Givenchy show that night.

The defendants faced charges including armed robbery, kidnapping, and criminal gang association. Because several of those convicted were older, the group became known in France as the “grandpa robbers.”
