The preseason games for the Kansas City Chiefs began in August, and it would not be wrong to say that they have been quite disappointing for fans. Naturally, the team also faced criticism, but something different and heated happened during a recent Chiefs preseason game involving Travis Kelce and a fan interaction.
Travis Kelce swats away a fan who appears to grab his Kansas City Chiefs glove before kickoff
Recently, the Bet105 X account shared a pre-game moment involving the Kansas City Chiefs, where Travis Kelce appeared to swat away a fan who tried to grab his Kansas City Chiefs glove before kickoff.
The video shows the tight end walking back from the gridiron while taking off his gloves. As he approached the stands, a fan standing nearby attempted to snatch the gloves, prompting Travis Kelce to quickly react and swat the fan away.
This video and incident took place before Monday’s Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos game, which the Mahomes-led team won 31-10.
For context, Travis Kelce is not the only NFL star to face this kind of behavior. In fact, it is quite common in the NFL, and several big names have experienced similar incidents.
Brett Favre had his ball stolen in 2005 in an even crazier incident. A fan wearing a Burger King mascot suit ran onto the gridiron during the Cincinnati Bengals vs. Green Bay Packers game and literally snatched the ball from Favre’s hands.
We also saw a similar snatching incident in 2023 when Tyreek Hill jumped toward the stands to give the 69-yard touchdown ball to his mother. Even then, a fan tried to snatch the ball.
Travis Kelce is not the only Chiefs star to experience this either. His best friend Patrick Mahomes also fell victim to a fan’s attempt to snatch something in 2025, when a fan grabbed a headband Mahomes had thrown in the air for a 10-year-old boy.
