Keke Palmer unexpectedly missed the 2026 Emmys despite being announced as a presenter for the ceremony.
Palmer had been scheduled to present Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series alongside Saturday Night Live star Marcello Hernandez. However, Hernandez ultimately handled the presentation alone, and Palmer had not publicly explained her absence.

Palmer’s absence stood out because she had remained active online shortly before the ceremony began.
Just a few hours before the broadcast, she shared an Instagram post promoting an upcoming episode of her Baby, This is Keke Palmer podcast featuring Octavia Spencer.
Despite that activity, the Keke Palmer presenter appearance never happened.
Hernandez took the stage without her and presented the directing award to Hiro Murai for Widow’s Bay.
He continued with his planned comedy material and used the moment to address several celebrities in the audience, including Harrison Ford, Zendaya and Oscar Isaac.
Hernandez also acknowledged Tom Holland while speaking to Zendaya and jokingly invited the couple to dinner.
Palmer’s representatives had not provided an explanation for the Keke Palmer Emmys no-show at the time of the reports. The Emmys also had not publicly clarified why she missed the scheduled presentation.
The actress already had a notable history with the awards.
Palmer had received six Emmy nominations across the Primetime and Daytime ceremonies during her career.
She won Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series in 2022 for Turnt Up with the Taylors. She later won Outstanding Host for a Game Show for Password in 2023.
Her series The ’Burbs also received a nomination at the Creative Arts Emmys for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music. Michael Abels’ composition ultimately lost to Dave Porter’s work on Pluribus.
Palmer also had two pending Daytime Emmy nominations connected to Glam Through the Ages.
Still, the biggest question surrounding her Keke Palmer Emmys appearance remained unanswered: why she never joined Hernandez onstage as planned.
