Sydney Sweeney Seemingly Claps Back at Naked Ad Critics With Telling Response

Sydney Sweeney seemingly broke her silence over the Novig ad controversy. She was slammed for almost baring it all for the sports trading platform’s latest advertisement. Many female athletes reportedly criticized the “Euphoria” star for sexualizing sports. Over the weekend, the diva clapped back by sharing multiple celebrity athletes posing nude for various sports magazine covers.

Sydney Sweeney recently responded to the critics slamming her for the Novig ad. On her Instagram Story, she posted prominent athletes’ photos posing nude for ESPN’s Body Issue covers over the years. Serena Williams, Ronda Rousey, Sue Bird, Megan Rapinoe, and Caroline Wozniacki were among the female celebrities.

Furthermore, Sweeney added a few male athletes, including Myles Garrett, Rob Gronkowski, and Karl-Anthony Towns. Additionally, the Eagles Offensive Line (Brandon Brooks, Lane Johnson, Jason Kelce, Isaac Seumalo, and Halapoulivaati Vaitai) also featured in 2019’s Body Issue. After sharing the pictures, the actor re-posted her snaps from the Novig advertisement.

Last week, Sweeney caught everyone’s attention with the provocative sports ad. In it, her nearly naked appearance, telling viewers the trading app is “just sports,” sparked criticism. She received major backlash from female athletes. Retired Olympian Ariarne Titmus shared her disappointment on her Instagram Story. She confessed that the ad was like “a kick in the face to every woman who has dedicated her life to perfecting her craft, but every woman who enjoys sports for what it really is.”

Former UCLA gymnast Gracie Kramer and Olympic water polo player Tilly Kearns also gave their views online. They openly criticized Sweeney’s appearance in the ad. Meanwhile, the “Housemaid” star shared a carousel of photos from her latest sports campaign with a caption, “It’s gamedayyy.” While the comment section was largely filled with criticism, the post has garnered over two million likes as of this writing.
