Tom Jones Gets Unexpected Job Offer After The Voice Axing

Sir Tom Jones may have lost his seat on “The Voice UK,” but a surprising new opportunity has come knocking.

One of Cardiff’s shopping destinations has asked the Welsh music icon to become its voice.

According to The Sun, Cardiff’s St. David’s shopping center reached out to Jones following his exit from The Voice UK. In a playful Instagram post, the shopping destination invited Jones to become the voice heard throughout the mall.

“We’ve got your back, Sir Tom,” the center said. “We heard there might be an opening in your schedule… so we’ve got a proposition.”

The message continued, “We think St David’s is missing something. Specifically, a Welsh legend voicing our announcements and ringing out in our lifts.”

The shopping center also shared an edited image of Jones inside the venue alongside the caption, “Sir Tom Jones we want you.”

The unique job offer came just days after Jones spoke out about his departure from The Voice UK. Jones has had a long relationship with the show, serving as a coach since it launched in 2012. After reports of his departure became public, Jones made it clear that leaving wasn’t his choice.

“To be clear, I did not want to leave The Voice as I love the show and really appreciate the audience,” he wrote on social media.

“ITV made this decision – obviously a while ago, and I was just told recently. The reason given is because of a financial difficulty with insurance.”

He added, “They are making a much-reduced role where I would make an appearance but without being actually involved from the start, and I’m not thrilled about that.”

The singer continued, “So the only thing I know right now, is that there’s never a good time to fire an 86-year-old who’s still pretty good at his job.”

ITV later described Jones as “irreplaceable” while announcing a new coaching panel featuring Cheryl, Aitch, Kelly Rowland and will.i.am.
