Prince William is reportedly watching his brother Prince Harry closely. For the first time in more than six years, the brothers are living in the same country following their reported rift.
According to Us Weekly, a source said, “It was a shock to William and Kate. They’re still processing it, but their initial surprise has evolved, and they’re taking a wait-and-see approach.” Prince William and Kate Middleton are now navigating their relationship with Harry and Markle.
Former royal butler Grant Harrold said, “William will be watching his brother very closely, and trying to work out what his game plan is.”
The brothers have not reunited, and William reportedly does not view Harry’s return as an olive branch. A source said, “No one’s booking a table for two for William and Harry. Everyone wants a reunion story, but it’s not something that’s in the cards. If fences do get mended, it will be a slow and private process, and on William’s terms.”
According to sources, Middleton and William were “blindsided” by Harry and Meghan’s return. They were reportedly informed of the move by King Charles III’s private secretary.
Harrold said, “I believe William is still furious [with Harry]. I don’t believe he’s happy Harry is back in the U.K. at all. The relationship was already broken, [and while] the move doesn’t break it again, it does put the break in the same country.”
Harry and Markle had reportedly been planning the move for some time before leaving California in late August. Their children were enrolled in a private school near their new home, a process that royal experts noted would have required advance planning. The pair may have finalized details during their July trip to meet King Charles and Queen Camilla.
