ESPN Analyst Calls Out Aaron Rodgers for Very Odd Comment

Mina Kimes, the award-winning sports journalist, reacted to Aaron Rodgers’ comments about what comes next after his NFL career, particularly his reference to supporting his “pregnant wife” as they start a family. The ESPN analyst found the wording unusual as Rodgers prepares for what could be the final season of his career.

Speaking on The Sports Gossip Show on Tuesday, September 8, Kimes, 41, reacted to Rodgers’ comments about his plans after football.

“I just don’t know if I’ve ever heard anyone use those words in that way,” Kimes said. “That was my reaction. You know the Bart Simpson [quote], ‘What an odd thing to say.’”

She explained that Rodgers could have simply said he wanted to start a family. “It was just a strange way of putting it, as opposed to, ‘I want to start a family.’”

Rodgers, 42, recently told SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio that he is looking forward to a quieter life after his NFL career. In his words, “I’m hopefully going to be supporting my pregnant wife because we’re going to start a family and I am not going to be making a lot of appearances or statements.”

He added, “I’m looking forward to a life of quiet after 22 years in the pros and three in college and getting my body healed up and working on a family. That’s what I’m looking forward to.”

Rodgers married his wife, Brittani, in spring 2025 but has not publicly revealed her identity.

Kimes also questioned Rodgers’ comments about wanting privacy. She noted that he often brings up personal details during interviews and press conferences. Besides that, she also described Rodgers as “very online” and “in tune” with the narratives surrounding him on social media. In her view, spending too much time focused on online criticism can create unnecessary frustration.
