Megan Thee Stallion has opened up about life after her breakup with Klay Thompson. Months after ending the relationship, the rapper says the experience was “very rough.” It also changed what she wants from a future partner.
Megan Thee Stallion says she is finding herself again after her Klay Thompson split
Megan reflected on the breakup during a new InStyle interview. She told the magazine she was doing her best after a difficult few months. Then, Megan used a washing-machine metaphor to explain how the experience had affected her emotionally.
“It was very rough,” she admitted.
However, Megan now sees an important lesson in the experience. She explained that constant discomfort can reveal when something no longer belongs in your life. The rapper said she kept forcing pieces together. At the same time, she tried to fit herself into someone else’s world.
“I was losing myself a little bit,” Megan said. Now, she wants to reconnect with herself and enter what she called the process of “finding me again.”
Megan and Klay Thompson ended their relationship in April. She announced the breakup while making cheating allegations against the NBA star. At the time, Megan stressed that she expects trust, fidelity and respect from a partner.
The split marked a sharp turn from their earlier public romance. In February, Megan described feeling “overly comfortable” with Thompson.
She also sounded hopeful about their future. Later that month, Megan even hinted that she wanted an engagement. Their romance included several public gestures, too. Thompson previously named his boat “SS Stallion” as a tribute to Megan.
Now, Megan says any future partner must respect her independence. She told InStyle that she refuses to let another person make her feel smaller. Instead, she wants a relationship where both people stand on equal ground.
Single life has also brought some happiness back. Megan said she has not smiled this much in a long time.
For now, she wants to rebuild her sense of self before rushing into another relationship.
