Prince Harry’s return to the UK has stirred speculation, with a recent warning suggesting that he could lose his royal titles, like ex-Prince Andrew. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex landed in Britain with their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, a fortnight ago. They will reside in the Cotswolds for an extended period.

Sources from the Royal Household have claimed that King Charles intends to maintain 2020’s Sandringham agreement (via The i Paper). Back then, the late Queen, with then-Prince Charles and Prince William, declared that the Sussexes could not have “half-in and half-out” status. It meant that they were not allowed to make money commercially while carrying out royal duties.
Some insiders have now suggested that King Charles might completely strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their royal titles. This would force them to stop using the titles. The stripping of titles would create a clear difference between working and non-working royals.
Royal biographer Hugo Vickers said, “It’s all they’ve got but I think Prince Harry ought to be worried about how easily Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor had his titles removed. It may have to happen if it gets really bad.” In late October 2025, King Charles stripped Andrew of his “prince” title and his other royal honors.
A source close to the Sussexes claimed that the couple wants to rebuild their relationship with the royal family. They could eventually get invitations to public family gatherings and semi-official events. However, there is no chance of them engaging in royal duties again.
The source said there is no possibility of Harry and Meghan attending any public royal family events anytime soon. “They may see the family privately but I don’t think there are plans for them to get involved with public events with the institution,” the insider said. They added that the Sussexes will not be celebrating Christmas with their family at Sandringham.
