WWE Hall of Famer Dave Bautista is going all in for his role as Kratos. The 57-year-old showed off his progress after three weeks of weight training as he prepares to star as the God of War character in the upcoming live-action series.
Dave Bautista flaunted his physique to play Kratos in God of War
Known for playing Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, Bautista took to Instagram to show fans how his physical preparation was coming along. He captioned the video, “3rd week into weight training again. 2 more months to get to where I need to be. Like ridin a bike! LFG!”
Meanwhile, Bautista’s casting as Kratos came less than a month ago. Ryan Hurst had originally been cast in the role. However, the 50-year-old suffered a torn biceps during a late-June stunt and required surgery, which forced him to step away. As a result, production on God of War was paused immediately after the incident.
Since then, filming on the series has been expected to resume. Production began in Vancouver in February under a two-season order, with Ronald D. Moore serving as writer, executive producer and showrunner. Frederick E.O. Toye will direct the first two episodes. Previously, the production was expected to restart in mid-October. Bautista said he needed “two more months” to get ready, but that does not necessarily mean the production restart will be pushed to late October or early November, reports UNILAD.
God of War is being developed through a collaboration between Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios and PlayStation Productions. Meanwhile, it will also star Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Teresa Palmer as Sif and Callum Vinson as Atreus, alongside Bautista, who first rose to prominence through professional wrestling, joining WWE in 1999. Additionally, the adaptation will draw from the events of 2018’s God of War and 2022’s God of War Ragnarök, following Kratos and his son Atreus, played by Callum Vinson.
