Elliot Page admitted that landing his next acting job had proved surprisingly difficult after The Odyssey. Despite the Christopher Nolan blockbuster, the Oscar nominee said he had not received the wave of offers many expected.
Page, 39, discussed his career during a new podcast interview. He also reflected on how transitioning changed his experience in Hollywood and on film sets.

Page appeared in Nolan’s The Odyssey as the Greek soldier Sinon. The role reunited him with the filmmaker 16 years after they worked together on Inception. Host Kevin McCarthy assumed Page must have received countless calls after the film’s success. Page quickly corrected him.
“No, Kevin, I’m not,” Page said during the September 1 episode of On Film… With Kevin McCarthy. He added that he simply wanted to do “ideally, good work.”
The actor also opened up about his experience filming Inception before coming out as transgender in 2020. Page said he enjoyed the movie but felt personally uncomfortable during production.
“I had such a great time being in that movie … but I was also personally really uncomfortable,” he explained.
Page said that discomfort no longer followed him into his performances. He felt more connected to himself while working on The Odyssey. “I feel like I could do some of my best work now,” Page said. He explained that he no longer had to work through a performance that felt disconnected from himself.
That shift made returning to a Nolan set especially meaningful. Page described wrapping The Odyssey as a cathartic, full-circle moment. Still, Page acknowledged that finding new opportunities had become complicated. “I was seen in a certain way before, and it’s different now,” he said.
He suggested reaching out directly to filmmakers and developing projects could help. “But it’s a little tricky for me to get cast now, for obvious reasons,” Page added. The casting also drew political backlash before The Odyssey reached theaters. Nolan dismissed those complaints, arguing that critics had not seen his finished film.
Whoopi Goldberg also defended Page on The View. “You don’t like Elliot Page? Don’t go see the damn movie,” she said.
Despite the noise, Page remained focused on working. For now, however, his blockbuster role had not translated into another acting offer.
