Rainbeau de Roos returned for Below Deck Season 13 determined to handle the demanding yachting environment differently. During an interview about the new season, she explained that watching herself on television gave her a clearer view of the areas she wanted to improve.
De Roos described the season as an opportunity for redemption. Rather than repeat her previous experience, she wanted to prove that she could approach both the job and her relationships with the crew with more patience.
Rainbeau de Roos reflects on her return with Fraser Olender’s support
De Roos said seeing herself from an outside perspective helped shape her approach to Below Deck Season 13. She used the time between seasons to “work on my patience, work on my attitude” and prepare herself to become the “best second Stew I could be.”
That goal proved challenging in the intense environment of a yacht. De Roos explained that crew members lived and worked together constantly, which could make it easy to become consumed by the job. Still, she made a conscious effort to soften her approach and improve as a manager.
“I would say I definitely tried my hardest,” she said. De Roos acknowledged that she did not handle every day perfectly, but she consistently started with the intention of being more patient.
Her working relationship with Fraser Olender also changed. De Roos felt that Fraser supported her more during Season 13. She believed he better understood her abilities and trusted her skill set, though that also meant he gave her plenty of work.
The crew dynamic also felt different for de Roos this time around. She said the cast arrived with an authentic attitude and appeared focused on doing their jobs well. That contrasted with concerns she had expressed about another crew member during the previous season.
De Roos also stayed more focused on work than romance. Although she acknowledged the effects of “boat goggles,” she said the men aboard were not necessarily her type. She also had a boyfriend at the time, which helped her keep her attention on the job.
The first charter introduced Taylor Ann Green, though de Roos admitted she initially did not recognize the Southern Charm star. She described Green as sweet, warm and welcoming and said her group made the first charter easier while the crew was still finding its rhythm.
