The examination was scheduled at the Van Nuys courthouse. Brown argued that he could not be forced to attend there and said he lives in Las Vegas. The singer said his home was more than 150 miles away.
Avila is seeking to collect the $13 million judgment. The award stemmed from allegations involving a dog attack that allegedly occurred at Brown’s Los Angeles home.
Brown has denied all allegations of wrongdoing in the case. He also argued that there was no evidence of wrongdoing. According to the filing, Brown denied concealing assets and denied fraudulently transferring or moving assets to avoid the debt.
The legal dispute had previously reached Brown’s tour earnings. A judge approved Avila’s request to access part of his profits, according to the submitted copy. The arrangement would continue until the judgment was paid.
Brown’s latest filing focused on the financial examination itself. His touring commitments formed a central part of his argument, while Avila continued pursuing information about his finances.
For now, the $13 million judgment remains a major issue. Brown’s tour schedule has complicated the next legal step. The court will ultimately decide whether his work commitments justify delaying the examination.
