Leto sold the six-bedroom, five-bathroom home in May for $12 million, according to TMZ. The property was once a U.S. Air Force installation and is located on 1.4 acres. The site also had connections to the country’s atomic bomb program. Army training films and Air Force newsreels from the Cold War also featured the property.
Those films included appearances from stars such as Bob Hope, Jimmy Stewart, James Garner, Kim Novak and Gregory Peck. The main structure has three 35-millimeter screening rooms and temperature-controlled film vaults. It also features a full sound stage. The unusual features made the property far more than a typical Los Angeles mansion.
Leto sold the home two months before the BBC released its documentary about allegations against him. Multiple women accused the actor of sexual assault in the documentary, while several allegations first appeared in British newspapers last year. Leto has strongly denied all wrongdoing and told TMZ, “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life.” He said the allegations are “absolutely and categorically false.”
The BBC documentary, “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret,” featured accounts from 10 women and covered alleged incidents between 2002 and 2016. Four women accused Leto of sexual assault, threats or other misconduct when they were teenagers. Police agencies have said they currently have no open investigations involving Leto, while prosecutors previously declined to file charges in one case. The sale has drawn attention amid the ongoing allegations, but it should not be presented as evidence of any wrongdoing.
