Taylor Sheridan and Cole Hauser are reportedly at odds again. The Yellowstone creator and star have nearly come to blows for the second time. Their issues reportedly go back to before the show brought them together.

Tensions appear to be growing between Hauser, who stars as Rip Wheeler in Yellowstone, and Sheridan, who serves as an executive producer. Hauser has added to the reported feud by speaking out about Sheridan’s absence from Dutton Ranch. He also shared his frustrations about filming in North Texas.
A source told the Daily Mail, “Cole has had beef with Taylor for a while. Taylor can be a harsh Texas guy. He is super straightforward and thinks fast, so he can come off as brutal, but he is just on top of his game, and he is brilliant. Cole is more casual, more surfer dude.”
The source continued, “Cole is a super nice dude from Santa Barbara, and Taylor is a very harsh but brilliant cowboy from Texas. It’s classic California versus Texas. Cole is more like a relaxed dude, and Taylor is more like ‘do your work and be grateful.’ It’s oil and water.”
Hauser and Sheridan’s reported feud could have deeper roots. Some Hollywood insiders believe Sheridan is unusually tough on actors. They think his own acting struggles could be behind that behavior. One source went as far as to suggest that Sheridan may be “envious” of Hauser.
“No actor really gets along with Taylor that well except for Billy Bob Thornton, but they put up with him because his shows are so good,” the source added. Another said, “Taylor might sometimes be hard on actors because when he first came to Hollywood, he tried to act and didn’t get very far. That was stressful for him; it was a big bummer.”
The source said Sheridan turned to writing and directing, but he still acts and has appeared in his own shows, including Yellowstone and Lioness. The source described Hauser as a natural actor, praising his looks, timing, and ease in front of the camera.
Hauser reportedly took a jab at Sheridan during a Filmside interview last month while discussing difficulties on set. He told FilmInside that without Sheridan on set, the only sense of normality came from working with Finn Little’s character, Carter, director Christina Alexandra Voros, and co-star Kelly Reilly. He explained that the team was also working with new writers and directors. He said, “It was about putting my head down and working my ass off with what I had around me.”
