Raquel Lee reportedly reached a private agreement with Mark Curry years before filing her current negligence lawsuit against Disney. Gloria Allred represented Lee during the resolution. The Hollywood Reporter reported that Lee and Curry entered into a confidential settlement in 2015. Curry played Lee’s father in the 2001 Disney Channel movie The Poof Point. Lee was 14 during production, while Curry was 40.
News of their agreement emerged as Lee pursues a separate lawsuit against The Walt Disney Co. Her complaint accuses the company of negligence over alleged sex abuse by an unidentified middle-aged male employee involved with the movie.
Lee alleges the employee sexually assaulted her at a Salt Lake City hotel where the cast and crew stayed during filming. She also claims another assault occurred during a flight back to Los Angeles.
According to the filing, the employee allegedly made sexually explicit comments around minors and harassed Lee in view of other crew members. Lee claims Disney personnel failed to intervene and that her assigned on-set guardian remained separated from her for much of the workday.
The complaint further alleges that the trauma affected Lee’s behavior and performance. She claims Disney executives criticized those changes and later canceled her involvement in another planned production. Lee is seeking unspecified damages.
Despite that experience, Lee later provided voice work for Disney Channel’s The Proud Family and returned for its Disney+ revival, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.
She also appeared in the 2024 docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, where she discussed her time as a Black performer on Nickelodeon’s The Amanda Show. She did not address her The Poof Point allegations in the series.
The available reporting does not identify the reason behind Lee and Curry’s 2015 agreement or connect Curry to the unnamed employee identified in her Disney complaint.
