Abby Lee Miller has removed two physicians from the medical malpractice case she filed in 2025 over a catheter she alleged remained inside her body after a 2020 procedure.
The former Dance Moms star dismissed doctors Hooman Melamed and Paul Dwan from the case. In a statement shared August 24, Miller also withdrew previous claims that either doctor was responsible for the retained object.

According to People, Miller acknowledged that Melamed and Dwan were not at fault for the incident at the center of the Abby Lee Miller lawsuit.
“Dr. Melamed and Dr. Dwan have consistently denied any negligence or fault in connection with Ms. Miller’s care,” the statement said.
The statement also said Miller’s earlier claims that either physician left the catheter in her body lacked a factual basis. She agreed to retract negative public statements about their treatment and apologize for the effect those comments had on the doctors.
“Ms. Miller apologizes to Dr. Melamed and Dr. Dwan for any distress this lawsuit has caused, as well as the reputational harm and emotional impact caused by Ms. Miller’s false and defamatory statements,” the statement read.
The broader medical malpractice lawsuit has not ended. Cedars-Sinai Marina Hospital remains listed as a defendant, according to the source, and Miller is seeking $1.4 million.
Miller’s original complaint concerned medical care she received following spinal surgery in 2020. She alleged that she later experienced abdominal pain and told members of her medical team about it. According to the filing, a CT scan eventually revealed a retained catheter.
The complaint alleged that doctors then performed an emergency procedure to remove the object. Miller’s suit included claims of medical negligence, professional negligence and medical battery.
Her attorney, Nadine Lewis, previously said Miller experienced pain for years before doctors ordered imaging that identified its source.
The dismissal changes the case only as it relates to Abby Lee Miller doctors Melamed and Dwan. The remaining claims are still moving through the court system.
A jury trial is currently scheduled for July 2027.
