Paul Wesley, best known for playing Stefan Salvatore on the hit supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries, shared a heartfelt message honoring Ukraine on its Independence Day. In a video posted on Reddit, the actor praised Ukrainians for their strength, resilience and unity while reflecting on the hardships they have faced.

In the Reddit video, originally distributed by UNITED24 Media on Aug. 24, Wesley praised Ukrainians for their resilience.
The 44-year-old actor said, “If miracles exist, Ukrainians are one of them.” He continued, “You’ve mastered packing your entire life within 5 minutes. And unpacking like you’re home for good.”
Wesley then highlighted how Ukrainians continue supporting one another despite difficult circumstances.
“You clear rubble together and clear out anything that stands in your way, no matter how hard it was the night before,” Wesley said.
Moreover, he pointed to the everyday ways Ukrainians continue to honor their country and its freedom. Wesley said, “Every day, the world sees the cost of your freedom. In 9 AM minutes of silence. In flowers planted by a shattered building. In recipes from Ukrainian grandmas, cooked across the globe.”
He also praised Ukrainians’ determination to rebuild after devastating attacks. For example, Wesley highlighted coffee shops that reopened hours after missile strikes. He shared their message: “Running on our own light.”
Finally, Wesley praised the country’s unity and independence.
“United you stay independent. Happy Independence Day, Ukraine,” Wesley said.
