Counting On Alums Expose Dirty Habits That Horrified Their Spouses

Joy Duggar and Jinger Duggar opened up about some of the unexpected adjustments that they had to make after getting married.

The sisters talked about how some of their hygiene habits had thrown off their husbands. This, in turn, led to key lifestyle changes for the Duggars.

19 Kids and Counting stars Joy-Anna and Jinger Duggar confess their husbands were shocked by their lack of hygiene

Joy-Anna, 28, appeared on her sister’s podcast and noted things that surprised her most after marrying Austin Forsyth at 19. As reported by Reality Blurb, personal hygiene quickly became a point of contention for the couple. “Some days you don’t feel dirty,” Joy-Anna said. “I did not care that much. [I was like], ‘Hygiene? Ehh.’”

The former 19 Kids and Counting star admitted that she had to adjust to taking more showers as part of the marriage. “That sounds crazy, doesn’t it?” she joked.

According to her, Austin had set down clear terms during their marriage. “Jokingly, he was like, ‘You know when we get married, we’re gonna shower every night! We’re gonna be clean!” she recalled. “He let me know his expectations, and I was like, ‘Okay, fine,’” Joy-Anna revealed.

Joy-Anna also said that Austin was extremely particular about hygiene and cleanliness. She called him a “germophobe” revealing that he sometimes took two showers a day in the summer and also washed his hands frequently.

Jinger, 32, joined in the cleanliness conversation, saying that her husband,, Jeremy Vuolo, had similar reservations with some of her habits. “The hygiene thing has improved with Jeremy [in my life],” she said, adding that he has “improved my hygiene majorly.”

As with Joy-Anna, Jinger admitted that keeping clean was one of the priorities in her household. We won’t even get into all the hygiene things because it’s too much to talk about,” she said, adding, “I still don’t wash my hair [often], Joy. The hygiene thing, it’s massive in [Jeremy’s] eyes.”

The sisters, Joy-Anna and Jinger rose to fame on TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting. They have remained in the public spotlight with podcasts, books, and social media even after the series ended.
