According to TMZ, Grand Forks police responded to Duckworth’s home around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday for a welfare check. A maintenance worker went into the apartment when a neighbour spotted water running out of the property. The worker found an overflowing bathtub with Duckworth’s body inside. Police found no outward signs of trauma, including gunshot or stab wounds.
Initial investigations revealed there was no evidence of homicide, police said. However, authorities will rely on an autopsy to determine the cause of death. An officer even spoke with Duckworth’s mother during the investigation. The police were unable to confirm if he had any past medical history.
Duckworth’s death initially received an unattended classification because nobody witnessed it. He was 44 when he died on Tuesday. The MTV star first appeared on The Real World: Key West in 2006. He also joined The Challenge and was a familiar name on the franchise.
Duckworth was the winner of Cutthroat in 2010 and Rivals in 2011. He later came back to the franchise for The Challenge: All Stars. He last appeared publicly less than two weeks before his death and attended a Challenge Mania event in Minneapolis on July 31.
His sudden death has left the circumstances surrounding his final moments unclear. Police have not announced a cause of death. The pending autopsy should help clarify what happened inside his apartment.
