Kelly Osbourne is firing back at Dee Snider over comments about her late father. The Twisted Sister singer questioned how much of Ozzy Osbourne’s music he wrote himself. The debate is not new. Still, Kelly made it clear that she thinks Snider crossed a line.
Kelly Osbourne criticized Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider over his comments about Ozzy Osbourne’s songwriting
Snider sparked the row on Aug. 12 while replying to fans on X. In one post, he claimed Ozzy “always had bass players write his lyrics.” He named Geezer Butler, Bob Daisley, and Lemmy Kilmister as key writers.
In another X post, Snider said he knew “too much about the truth behind the scenes.” He then wrote that Sharon Osbourne “doesn’t like to share.” Kelly answered on Instagram Stories on Aug. 14. She said her father’s work as a musician, songwriter, singer and bandleader “speaks for itself.”
She then took direct aim at Snider. Kelly called him “spectacularly classless” for trying to cut down Ozzy after his death. She also suggested he was using the row to get attention.
The Kelly Osbourne Ozzy defense focused on her father’s long career. She said Ozzy helped shape heavy metal with Black Sabbath. He then built a solo career that lasted for decades. Kelly also compared Ozzy’s career with Snider’s. She pointed to Twisted Sister’s shorter run of major mainstream success. She said Ozzy did not need Snider’s approval to prove his place in music history.
The Dee Snider Ozzy comments were mainly about lyrics. Snider argued that several bass players wrote key parts of Ozzy’s songs. He did not say Ozzy had no role in making the music.
The row also touches an old debate over Ozzy’s songwriting credits. Daisley has long spoken about his work on Ozzy’s early solo albums. Lemmy also received writing credits on songs from No More Tears. Kelly’s response comes more than a year after Ozzy died on July 22, 2025, at age 76. Since then, she has spoken openly about her grief and her father’s legacy.
At the time of publication, Snider had not publicly answered Kelly’s latest attack. Her message, however, left little doubt about how she feels.
