Kaia Gerber, daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, has revealed a startling truth about how she associates with the label “nepo baby”.
She has revealed that as a nepo baby, she is more forgiving of herself than others.
Kaia Gerber says she recognizes her nepo privilege but still expects other nepo babies to prove themselves
In an interview with Vogue, the actress revealed that while she enjoys the privilege of having famous parents, she doesn’t think others can do the same. She said, “I’ve only ever been a nepo baby, and I’ve only ever benefited in my career from it,” Gerber said.
She added, “But I also find myself doing it to other nepo babies, thinking, like, Okay, show me why you deserve this job”.
In fact, she has a separate narrative for Homer Gere, son of actor Richard Gere. She has told him, “It’s not like you’re just any unknown actor and people will judge you as an unknown actor. But what that’s done for me is make me want to work harder.”
The pair also discussed the pressure and expectations that come with growing up in famous families. It also explores the duo’s relationship with the “nepo baby” tag.
The interview came as Gerber and Gere promote The Shards, Ryan Murphy’s FX adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ novel. The two star in the series, which premiered August 5.
Elsewhere in the interview, Gerber revealed that she has had a pattern of “disordered eating”. She notes that she has been criticized for her looks. However, she is of the belief that “Negativity has never saved someone’s life.”
Gerber is an American model and actress who first rose to fame in the fashion world before expanding into film and television. She has appeared in projects including “American Horror Story”, “Palm Royale”, and Murphy’s upcoming series The Shards.
