Prepon announced the loss on Instagram, saying her family recently laid Brad to rest after his sudden death. “This past weekend, we laid my brother to rest. He passed away suddenly from an unknown heart condition—it was a devastating shock,” she wrote.
The actress reflected on the impact her brother had on those around him. She described him as “a singular, beautiful, inimitable force” and said she would carry him in her heart forever.
“For those of you who knew Brad, I’m so happy he touched your lives,” she continued. “For those who didn’t, we lost a singular, beautiful, inimitable force. I will miss my brother every day, and carry him in my heart always.”
Prepon also used her message to encourage followers to take their health seriously. “If you feel something may be off, please listen to your instinct and get it checked out. Hug the ones you love,” she wrote.
According to an obituary cited by Just Jared, Brad died on July 15 at the age of 48. The obituary echoed Prepon’s tribute, remembering him as someone who touched many lives. “Brad will be remembered through the qualities that made him uniquely himself,” the obituary stated. “He was a singular, inimitable force, who touched the hearts of many. He will be truly missed.”
Prepon has not shared additional details about her brother’s death beyond saying it was caused by an unknown heart condition.
