President Donald Trump has been making headlines regularly due to the ongoing Iran-USA military conflict. Recently, Trump expressed his frustration after Iranian leadership stated that it would not negotiate with the United States and shared a strong message in response.
However, amid all these tensions, the American President has also acknowledged the contribution of the military and has taken a major step for the U.S. military.
Trump Is Opening a Direct Line for Military Families as Part of a Broader Military Readiness Initiative
President Trump plans to sign an executive order on Monday to establish a White House commission aimed at prioritizing military families.
Apart from supporting military families, the commission will also aim to provide the White House with a clearer understanding of the challenges military spouses face, including issues related to childcare, employment, housing, healthcare, and more.
According to reports, the Military Spouse Commission will be led by Jennifer Hegseth, who has also shared her thoughts regarding the initiative.
Hegseth said, “Military spouses are the bedrock of our Armed Forces’ readiness and resilience. They are often overlooked, but we see them and want them to know help is on the way.”
“I am deeply honored to lead this Commission alongside my fellow military spouses in leadership. We will work tirelessly to dismantle the barriers our families face every single day, and these families can rest assured they have a champion in the White House with President Trump.” She concluded
The president will appoint the executive director himself, while Christine Mullin, the wife of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, will represent the service secretaries along with 20 other military spouses.
This is not the first time Donald Trump has taken steps in support of the military. During his first term, he expanded his support for military families by improving occupational license portability.
