Brenda Dickson is facing another legal challenge after a man asked a court for a civil harassment restraining order against the former soap opera actress. The request comes after Dickson’s arrest for misdemeanor battery in July. At this point, the judge did not approve the temporary request, court records indicate. A hearing will now determine whether the order should move forward.
Documents say Richard Chamberlin seeks a civil harassment restraining order against Brenda Dickson
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Richard Chamberlin filed a request for a civil harassment restraining order against Dickson on Monday. Chamberlin alleges Dickson hit his daughter, Isabella, in the face and chest during a July 8 incident. He also says she bumped Isabella with trash bags, made threats, and verbally harassed several people. Those allegations have not been proven in court.
In the filing, Chamberlin claims to be a property maintenance worker and a renter in the building where Dickson lives. He requested that the court extend the protection to him, Isabella, and another tenant. Chamberlin also says that Dickson has stalked and verbally harassed them for the last two months. He requested that Dickson remain at least five yards away from all of them, including his dog.
The judge, after reading the filing, refused to grant a temporary restraining order. The court said the documents did not adequately demonstrate that Dickson had engaged in any violence, threatened to use violence or caused any significant emotional distress. The court scheduled a hearing for Aug. 24 to consider the request. The judge has not ruled on the merits of Chamberlin’s allegations.
The filing follows Dickson’s arrest in July on suspicion of misdemeanor battery. The actress was arrested and, the same day, was released on her own recognizance. Dickson is best known for playing Jill Foster Abbott on the long-running soap opera The Young and the Restless. She has not publicly responded to the latest restraining order request at the time of reporting.
