Seth Meyers took a swipe at Donald Trump over his latest polling numbers. NBC’s Late Night host joked that “Madame Web has a higher” rating than Trump’s approval numbers.
Seth Meyers turned Donald Trump’s latest polling setback into another blistering late-night roast
Seth Meyers’ monologue during the episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers on July 31 took aim at Donald Trump’s latest poll numbers. He said, “Americans are struggling to afford food while Trump and his family line their pockets. Which might explain why Trump’s job approval has once again hit a record low. Donald Trump is now, we can say, pretty confidently the least popular he’s ever been. And that includes after January 6th.”
He cited a Quinnipiac poll that put Donald Trump’s rating at 32%. He said, “Today, a new Quinnipiac poll has his approval rating at… 32%. That comes on the heels of a CNN poll that had him at 34%. Just 29% of voters think Trump is focused enough on the right issues. CNN has the same number at 27%. I mean, these are — this is about as low as it gets.”
Later, he compared Trump’s poll numbers with the audience score of action thriller film Madame Web on Rotten Tomatoes, using the comparison as a punchline.
He further joked, “Just to give you an idea of how low that is, ‘Madame Web’ has a higher audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Although Trump’s hand does look like it was bit by a spider in the Amazon. Maybe he thinks he has spider powers. That would certainly explain the way he dances.”
Meyers started the show by taking aim at Donald Trump’s justification for starting the Iran war. He also mocked President Trump’s claim that he had called Biden to inform him about Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Meyers argued that Trump’s ratings have fallen while Americans continue to struggle with food and grocery prices.
