Emma Roberts’ Idaho wedding had the usual fanfare and an impressive guest list – but one absence caught everybody’s eye.
Emma’s father, Eric Roberts, was missing, even as Aunt Julia Roberts attended the ceremony.

According to Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice, Emma had a difficult choice to make. Since her aunt and father cannot attend together, she chose her aunt.
An insider said, “Emma had an impossible choice to make, and she made it,” adding, “She couldn’t have both Julia and Eric there, so she chose her aunt over her father. Eric is putting on a brave face, but make no mistake—this one hurts.”
Despite this heartbreaking decision, Eric Roberts seemed to have taken it in his stride. Over the weekend, the actor expressed his support for his daughter over and above the complicated family dynamics. Reportedly, he said he loved his daughter and wanted her to celebrate “with whomever she wants.”
The family feud dates back more than three decades during Eric’s stiff custody battle with Kelly Cunningham, Emma’s mother. Julia had reportedly supported Cunningham, even as Eric suffered from substance abuse. Since then. Eric has supported the decision, noting that he wouldn’t have been able to care for Emma during that period.
Insiders have expressed that though Eric is being gracious, the snub hurts him more than anybody knows. They said, “Eric is putting on a brave face because that’s what fathers do,” adding, “But don’t mistake grace for a lack of hurt. Being left off your daughter’s wedding guest list is heartbreaking, especially when another member of your family gets the invitation.”
Eric has repeatedly insisted that he and his daughter are not estranged. However, the lack of invitation to his daughter’s wedding may be a hard pill to swallow. Questions may arise about Emma’s decision, but her move suggests conviction in the purpose.
