The MJ Shannon death certificate named two other contributing conditions: acute respiratory failure nd metastatic lung cancer. She had been living with the cancer for months. She died at a Los Angeles hospital on July 16 and was cremated a week later, on July 23. No autopsy took place.
Jenner,70, shared the news the day her mother died. Mary Jo Shannon had been 10 days from turning 92. “Today, we said goodbye to my beautiful Mommy MJ,” Jenner wrote on Instagram. She said no words could capture what her mother meant to her, calling her the heart of the family. “She taught us that family is everything.”

A day earlier, Kim posted her grandmother’s final texts. The two had traded biblical passages in the family group chat. They gathered Sunday again for what would have been her 92nd Birthday grandma!” Kim, 45, added that going through her things with her mother had taught her more than she expected.
Jenner kept hers short. “Happy Heavenly Birthday Mommy. I love you,” she wrote alongside family photos. Shannon married three times. Her obituary said she leaves behind Jenner, seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and remembered her warmth and her love of La Jolla.
