Authorities say Mia Bieniemy personally contacted emergency dispatchers
Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman told WJLA that Eric Bieniemy’s wife, Mia Bieniemy, called 911 around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Elijah Bieniemy remained in the residence until deputies arrived, Chapman said. Officers found Mia with multiple gunshot wounds and found Elijah at the residence. Authorities arrested Elijah and charged him with malicious wounding, using a gun while committing a felony, and firing a gun inside a home.
Elijah Bieniemy is being held on suspicion in custody without bond as investigators continue to probe the case. Chapman did not publicly identify the victim but noted that her husband coaches for the Kansas City Chiefs, which made the case major local news. Chapman also said Eric Bieniemy left Chiefs training camp in Missouri and joined Mia at the hospital. According to ESPN, Mia was shot in the chest and arm, but her condition was listed as stable by doctors.
Investigators have not come across any previous incidents at the Bieniemy home, according to Chapman so far. Authorities continue to gather evidence as the investigation moves forward. Eric Bieniemy has not commented publicly on the incident, and officials have not announced any possible motive.
